Hi, my name is Rae, and this is my site.
I named it “In It For The Parking” because that’s my attitude towards chronic illness. It’s a part of my life… not my entire life, and I choose to take notice of the silver lining around the cloud as often as possible.
In 2007, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. My MS went unknown for several years (They think it was 2003 when I began having it) and finally showed itself in all its glory when I was in my 4th semester of law school. I stuck it out for the last year and a half, got my JD despite having seizures during exams, and was preparing for the bar exam when I ended up hospitalized.
That’s when I found out that the MS created a seizure disorder, and I am 0.001% of all MS sufferers who has this. If you do the math, it means it’s me and about 12 other people in the United States. I think we should have our own reality show. It would be hilarious slapstick fun. :)
Getting used to the anti-seizure medications, I’ve had to spend the past 5 months or so mostly at home. This site gives me the chance to give back to the community and to try to make a living without leaving the house.
I’ve been making a ton of pretty medical alert bracelets, but I don’t have the page up yet to sell those. It’ll be coming in early December, just in time for the holidays.
I am incredibly fond of and grateful for my family and friends. I love music (singing, songwriting, playing guitar or drums), cooking, blogging, & watching awesomely bad movies with my boyfriend Adam and our dog, Brisco.
I hope that this site will help others with chronic illness laugh a little, learn a little, and remember not to let anything get you down for long because every moment is filled with possibilities for happiness and sadness, worry and excitement, and you can choose to have a GREAT life. I know I do. :)
